Site work for a water / sewer project in San Miguel, California. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade water / sewer project.
Install four monitoring wells up to 65 feet in depth using the hollow stem auger method and perform three additional borings up to 60 feet in depth at specified locations. Monitoring Well 2-B (MW-2B) should be constructed first as an effluent compliance point for monitoring groundwater downstream of the wastewater treatment facility, with specific technical specifications provided. MW-3, MW-4, and MW-5 should be constructed similarly, but information from MW-2B may be used to adjust depths; the final seal depth for these wells will be determined in the field and must begin 5 feet above the screen with a minimum seal depth of 10 feet. Tasks to include are: drilling rig mobilization/demobilization (including crew travel and per diem), drilling borehole via 8-inch hollow stem auger, collecting continuous core samples, installing 2.5-inch diameter Schedule 80 PVC well casing and 20-slot screen with 8x20 filter pack, intermediate bentonite seal, and cement annular seal, installing 6-inch monument type surface completion, development rig mobilization/demobilization, developing the well by bailing and surging, and providing necessary equipment such as hopper, forklift, decontamination trailer, and support truck. San Miguel is an unincorporated community in San Luis Obispo County, with approximately 2,820 residents, located approximately 7 miles north of the City of Paso Robles. The San Miguel Community Services District (District) provides wastewater collection and treatment for the community. The Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) disposes of treated effluent via existing percolation ponds. Due to recent clogging and/or mounding at the existing percolation ponds, the District is interested in installing new monitoring wells and performing boring samples to gather additional percolation performance data, and information on the local hydrogeology in the vicinity of the WWTF Install four monitoring wells up to 65 feet in depth using the hollow stem auger method and perform three additional borings up to 60 feet in depth at the locations in the figure shown below. Monitoring Well 2-B (MW-2B) should be constructed first. This monitoring well will be used as an effluent compliance point to monitoring groundwater downstream of the WWTF. The technical specifications for the construction of MW-2B are attached. Soil cuttings will be spread on site, and development water will be discharged on site and allowed to percolate. The work area shall be clearly marked to prevent unauthorized entry and the test hole shall be covered to prevent access when contractor is not present on site. The downgradient wellhead (MW-2B) shall consist of a 6-inch diameter steel or aluminum monument casing raised approximately 3-feet above grade with a lockable lid and a concrete pad. The concrete pad shall be a minimum of 4-inches thick and a nominal 3-foot square, with the well placed in the center. The monitoring well casing shall be brought up to within 2-3 inches of the top of the monument casing and be a water-tight design, with a locking plug provided for the well casing. A materials specification for the monument casing and locking plug products must be submitted prior to project mobilization for approval by the Geologist.
