Remodeling of a laboratory facility in Fresno, California. Completed plans call for the remodel of a one-story above grade laboratory facility.
Contractor agrees to provide to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) all labor, tools, materials, supplies, equipment, travel, and incidentals necessary to remodel the Caltrans District 6 Lab office facility, located at 1352 West Olive Avenue, Fresno, CA 93728, within Fresno County. The services shall be performed during normal business hours Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding State holidays. Questions regarding this IFPQ must be submitted in writing. Bidders are encouraged to submit their written questions by 3:00 p.m. on December 11, 2025. the opinion of Caltrans, this IFPQ is complete and without need of explanation; however, if you have questions, or should you need any clarifying information, the contact person for this IFPQ is: Phuong Vu California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Email address: Phuong.Vu@dot.ca.gov Phone: (279) 234-2385 A. Contractor shall provide all labor, fixtures, tools, equipment, parts, materials, supplies, permits, travel, and incidentals to demolish and remodel the lab facility consisting of one (1) main lab, two (2) bathrooms, four (4) offices, including the hallway and data panel. B. Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of any waste or debris from the demolition process. C. Contractor shall avoid damage to structures or lab equipment. Any damage caused by Contractor to existing structures or lab equipment during demolition phase shall be repaired and/or replaced, at the discretion of Caltrans Contract Manager, at no additional cost to Caltrans. D. Contractor is responsible for confirming exact measurements prior to determining amounts and purchasing supplies. E. See Attachment A, Lab Facility Diagram and Pictures for existing and new layout configurations. F. Main Lab 1) Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of the following: a. One (1) straight counter - 16 feet (ft.) x 2.5 ft., one (1) sink, and one (1) catch basin. b. One (1) "L" counter (17 ft. x 2.5 ft. / 12 ft. x 2.5 ft.), two (2) sinks, and two (2) catch basins. 2) Contractor shall furnish and install the new counters, sinks, and catch basins per the following: a. All counters and shelves shall be made of durable material (wood is not an option) that does not rust and can hold at least 250 pounds (lbs.). b. North Counter i. The North counter shall be approximately 19 ft. long and consist of four (4) sets of four (4) drawers (two [2] sets on each side of the sink). ii. Under the North counter sink shall have two (2) doors that enable access to the sink. iii. The end sections of the North counter will open with two (2) shelves - one (1) in the middle and one (1) near the bottom. c. Northeast Counter (L-shape) i. The Northeast counter shall be approximately19 ft. along the North wall, and 15 ft. and five (5) inches (in.) on the East wall. ii. The North wall counter shall have two (2) sets of four (4) drawers to the left of the sink. iii. The left end of the North wall counter shall be open with two (2) shelves - one (1) in the middle and one (1) near the bottom. v. The North wall counter to the right of the sink shall continue and there shall be two and a half feet (2.5') of empty space under the counter to make room for an underthe-counter freezer. Contractor shall relocate electrical outlet from above the counter to below the counter by approximately one (1) to two (2) feet. v. Under the North wall sink shall have two (2) doors that enable access to the sink. vi. The East wall shall have four (4) sets of doors with a shelf on the bottom and the middle. vii. Under the East wall sink shall have two (2) doors that enable access to the sink. d. The sinks shall be replaced with stainless steel sinks that are approximately 24 inches long by 18 inches wide by 10 inches deep. e. The sinks shall be completely hooked up and faucets installed. f. Three (3) faucets shall be replaced with equivalent faucets and hookups. g. Three (3) catch basins shall be replaced with equivalent basins. All mounting parts shall be included, and all plumbing shall be hooked up so sink and faucets are functional. G. Bathrooms 1) Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of the following: a. All existing bathroom fixtures from two (2) bathrooms, including but not limited to sinks, soap dispensers, mirrors, shelves, urinals, toilets, and partitions: i. Two (2) sinks (one in each bathroom). ii. Two (2) mirrors and shelves (one in each bathroom). iii. One (1) feminine hygiene dispenser in women's bathroom. iv. Two (2) urinals in men's bathroom. v. Two (2) toilets (one in each bathroom). vi. Two (2) partitions (one in each bathroom). vii. One (1) privacy partition in-between urinal and sink in men's bathroom. b. All wall and flooring i. Two hundred thirty square feet (230 sq. ft.) of tile on floor in both bathrooms. ii. Three hundred eighty-five sq. ft. of tile on the walls in both bathrooms. iii. Eighty-eight ft. of rubber wall base in both bathrooms. iv. Two (2) floor drains (one in each bathroom). 2) Contractor shall furnish and install and/or connect the following new fixtures and associated hardware in both bathrooms with similar or better-quality material per the following: a. Two (2) new sinks and fixtures (one in each bathroom). b. Two (2) new faucets (one in each bathroom). c. Two (2) new mirrors measuring approximately 1.5 ft. x 3 ft. (one in each bathroom). d. Two (2) new toilets (one in each bathroom). e. Two (2) new urinals in the men's bathroom. f. Two (2) new partitions (8.3 ft. long and regulation height - one (1) in each bathroom). g. One (1) new privacy partition (2.25 ft. long and 3.7 ft. in height in-between urinal and sink in the men's bathroom). 3) Contractor shall furnish and install floor and wall tiles in both bathrooms per the following: a. Approximately 230 sq. ft. of Epoxy Terrazzo, or equivalent, for the new flooring. b. Approximately 385 sq. ft. new Home Depot 1/16 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. plastic panels (SKU 179646), or similar, in bathroom to replace wall tiles to a height of approximately four (4) ft. and 4.5 inches. c. Approximately 88 ft. of new 4.5-inch wall base. d. Two (2) new floor drains. H. Offices and Hallway Flooring 1) Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of the flooring throughout the offices and hallway per the following: a. Remove 365 ft. rubber wall base. b. Remove 1,550 sq. ft. vinyl flooring. 2) Contractor shall furnish and install flooring in the offices and hallway per the following: a. Install approximately 1,550 sq. ft. of Elm Grey Oak, 16 MIL, 13.2 ft. W x Cut to Length Waterproof Vinyl Sheet Flooring Home Depot Model #U9540621K792M15, Store SKU #1011265772. b. Install approximately 365 ft. of 4.5-inch-tall rubber wall base in Home Depot Pinnacle Fawn or similar color. I. Office Phone and Data Contractor shall install one (1) new Nvent T1Flo Vented Enclosure with Fan Type 1, 54.00x30.00x12.75, Gray, Steel, or equivalent, to cover exposed data and phone wires (see Attachment A, Lab Facility Diagram and Pictures). J. Painting Contractor shall furnish and paint approximately 3,800 sq. ft. of the walls of the bathrooms, halls, and offices, including windows and door trims, and touch up around counter walls within the main lab, with Behr, Dolphin Fin (790-3U), semi-gloss interior paint, or with similar brand and color. K. Water Drinking Fountain Contractor shall remove and install the water drinking fountain in the hallway per the following: 1) Remove and legally dispose of existing water fountain. 2) Furnish and install one (1) new zH20(R) bottle filling station with single ADA cooler filtered non-refrigerated water drinking fountain in light gray, or equivalent
