Demolition work for various city-owned or government-associated properties is required, based on orders issued pursuant to the Unsafe Building Act. Work involves demolishing structures (including foundations, garages, outbuildings, and dead trees), clearing and removing all debris, filling excavations with clean sand topped with four inches of black soil and seeding or sodding, and compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and ordinances. Contractors must photograph the entire property before and after demolition, post a demolition sign, verify property vacancy, confirm termination of utility services, receive necessary IDEM notice-to-proceed, and submit photographic documentation with the demolition invoice. Certain specified structural items must be salvaged and turned over to the city. Bidders must account for potential environmental remediation and must familiarize themselves with site conditions, relevant agreements, and required remediation costs.
