Renovation of a mixed-use development in Hammond, Indiana. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 33,400-square-foot restaurant; 33,400-square-foot multi-residential development; and 33,400-square-foot retail development.

As of February 10, 2026, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. The Hammond Redevelopment Commission is requesting proposals from developers for the commercial and/or residential development of the properties located at 5243 and 5251 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, Indiana. The goal is to create a development that serves the needs of Hammond residents and businesses, particularly in and around downtown Hammond. Objectives include expanding retail/commercial facilities, revitalizing key corridors, establishing new retail areas, providing new residential housing alternatives, and maintaining architectural design compatibility. The project site is approximately 0.65 acres and contains a building of around 33,400 sq.ft. The site is zoned C-3 (Central Business District), allowing a mix of commercial and residential uses, and is well-served by public utilities. Proposals must address architectural design, pedestrian friendliness, design enhancements, landscaping, and demonstrate financial and team qualifications. The minimum bid for both parcels is $562,500. Proposers must submit two originals and ten copies of their proposal, including all required information and a 5% earnest money check. All exhibits and supporting materials become the property of the Commission. Submission instructions and specific proposal content requirements are detailed, including bid amount, vision, experience, financial capacity, project schedule, and required deliverables.
