The Schuylkill Technology Center is accepting proposals for paving at the North Campus. Scope of Work - Asphalt Milling and Paving 1. General Description The successful bidder shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to mill, prepare, and resurface designated paved areas located on school property, in strict accordance with this RFP, applicable PennDOT specifications, and all local, state, and federal regulations. All work shall be performed in a manner that maintains safe pedestrian and vehicular access, ensures proper drainage, and provides smooth transitions at all building access points, including doorways, garage doors, and service entrances. 2. Milling Requirements _ The contractor shall mill the entire existing asphalt surface in all designated areas to receive new pavement. _ Milling depth shall be sufficient to accommodate the specified resurfacing thickness while maintaining proper finished elevations. _ All milled material shall be removed from the site and legally disposed of or recycled by the contractor. _ Following milling, all surfaces shall be mechanically swept and cleaned prior to placement of new asphalt. 3. Surface Preparation _ After milling, the contractor shall inspect all areas for depressions, low spots, and irregularities. _ Low or unstable areas shall be leveled with asphalt base material, compacted to proper density, and approved by the Owner's representative prior to final paving. _ No paving shall occur until all subgrade and milled surfaces are clean, dry, and structurally sound. 4. Asphalt Paving _ All designated areas shall be resurfaced with 1_ inches (compacted thickness) of ID-2 Top Course Asphalt, meeting PennDOT specifications. _ Asphalt shall be placed using mechanical paving equipment to ensure uniform thickness, density, and surface smoothness. _ Compaction shall be achieved using approved rollers to meet industry density standards. 5. Transitions and Edge Treatment _ The contractor shall provide smooth, flush transitions between new asphalt and all adjacent surfaces, including: _ Building door thresholds _ Garage and overhead door openings _ Concrete aprons _ Existing pavement tie-ins _ Finished elevations shall ensure no abrupt changes in grade, trip hazards, or interference with door operation. _ All exposed pavement edges shall be sealed with AC-20 asphalt cement to prevent water infiltration and edge deterioration. 6.
