This project is for the removal of vegetative obstructions to the Airport's approaches at Chatham Municipal Airport. The work includes the removal of trees that penetrate the Airport's protected airspace on Airport owned property, within easements on private properties, and on properties with tree clearing agreements. Restoration of disturbed surfaces and other work as shown on the Plans, specified in the Specifications, and as directed by the Engineer are also included. Bids are to be submitted electronically and must be based on a unit price as indicated in the Bid Form. The contract time for completion is forty-two calendar days. Instructions to bidders include mandatory submission of Contractor/Subcontractor Certifications, bid security of at least five percent of the total bid amount, and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) required contract provisions. The successful bidder must furnish 100% Performance Bond, 100% Payment Bond, and Liability Insurance listing required parties as additional insured. The Owner/Contractor Agreement must be executed within five calendar days from the date of the Notice of Award. Bids not accompanied by acceptable security will not be considered. There is a stipulation that prevailing wages must be paid, with the higher of State or Federal Wage Rates applying. The Chatham Airport Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive deficiencies, and accept any bid it deems in its best interest. No bidder may withdraw a bid for 180 calendar days following the bid opening.
