Project Scope Kirchoff Road is a 5-lane minor arterial with a bike path on the south side and sidewalk on the north side of the roadway. Plum Grove Road is a 5-lane minor arterial with a bike path on the west side and a sidewalk on the east side. The pavement on both of these streets is in poor condition and needs to be resurfaced. The roadways will be milled, patched and resurfaced along with spot curb and gutter repairs and replacement of all pedestrian sidewalk ramps to bring the corridor up to current ADA standards. It is expected that the pedestrian signal heads, and pushbuttons at the Kirchoff/Plum Grove intersection will have to be brought up to current IDOT/PROWAG standards. Soil borings and pavement analysis will determine exact depth of milling and resurfacing, it is expected 3 1/2 " of rehabilitation will be required. There are 2 locations within the corridor where the painted median has continuous diagonal striping. The "unused" painted median locations will be replaced with barrier landscaped medians. There is a short omission along Plum Grove Road, which is the Euclid intersection. The resurfacing of Plum Grove Road will extend up to the stop bar of Euclid Avenue on both sides of the intersection. The project is located within the Palatine Quadrangle. Kirchoff Road and Plum Grove Road are under the jurisdiction and maintenance responsibility of the City of Rolling Meadows.
