The work generally consists of construction of a 6 MGD sanitary sewer lift station and installation of 16,400 LF of 14" sanitary force main located at 115 Benesch Lane to South Prairie Road SW and I-380, generally parallel to Earhart Lane SW at the south end and angling toward I-380 at the far north end. Bids shall be on a Unit Price basis. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid. All contractors and subcontractors shall be responsible for pre-employment drug screening of prospective employees and must have in place a drug and alcohol testing policy that conforms to Iowa Code. Preference is given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa Code Chapter 73. Nonresident bidders must apply the same resident labor force preference as would be required in the construction of a public improvement by the state or country in which the nonresident bidder is a resident. Minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin.
