HMA Resurfacing on Hammerand Road from Sherrill Road NE 2.5 miles to Circle Ridge Road in sections 19, 20, 17, & 16 of Peru Township, T90N R2E. The work involves furnishing the specified materials in the quantities required and providing the necessary machinery, equipment, labor, and expertise to competently complete the project as described in the plans and specifications. Quantities of work required are approximate and subject to increases and decreases; all work actually required must be performed at the unit prices stipulated. Payment may be made after July 1, 2026, and winter work is not allowed. The contractor agrees to complete the work within the contract period or pay liquidated damages for each additional working day that the work remains incomplete. "Extra work" required to complete the project will be performed at unit prices, lump sums agreed upon in writing, or on a "force-account basis" as provided in the specifications. The Iowa Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, series 2023, plus General Supplemental Specifications and applicable Special Provisions, apply to construction on this project. The contractor is eligible for a State of Iowa Sales Tax exemption on materials for the project. Instructions to bidders include: Proposals must be filed on the forms furnished, sealed, and plainly marked; proposals may be rejected if containing reservations not provided for in the forms. A certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond must accompany each proposal. The selected contractor must furnish a performance bond within fifteen days of contract approval. Consideration will be given to locally owned businesses if costs are relatively equal. Preferences are given to products and provisions grown and coal produced in Iowa, and resident bidders as against nonresidents from states or countries with bidder preferences. Compliance with Civil Rights regulations and substance abuse prevention program requirements for CDL personnel is required. Proposals must be received by the specified deadline as stated in the bid documents.
