The Project Manual, consisting of the Bidding Documents [that include the advertisement for bid, instructions to bidders, proposal (including the bid schedule proposal), statement of bidder's qualifications, and affidavit, Contract Documents (that include the proposal, performance bond, statutory bond, contract, general conditions, special conditions, technical specifications, and any addenda or change orders authorized by the Owner), and the Plans may be examined at the Merriam Public Works Department, 6901 Knox, Merriam, Kansas 66203. The project involves roadway improvements on Carter Avenue from 67th Street north to Carter Avenue in Merriam, Kansas. The improvements include pipe replacement, inlet modification, storm structure replacement, mill and overlay, sidewalk, and full depth pavement replacement. Sealed proposals will be received from qualified bidders. All proposals must be submitted on a printed proposal form included in the Project Manual, which contains specifications for the work. Proposals must be in sealed envelopes addressed to the City of Merriam and marked "Carter Avenue (67th St. to Carter Ave.) Improvements." Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or cashier's check drawn on a National Bank or a bank having membership in the Federal Reserve System, or a bid bond made payable to "The City of Merriam, Kansas" in an amount of not less than five percent of the total bid. The City reserves the right to request statements of qualifications and to evaluate the ability of the bidder to perform the obligations of the contract, including requiring performance and statutory bonds each in the amount of 100% of the contract.
