This project includes the replacement of the Hastings WWTP's existing Ultraviolet disinfection system. The work will involve the demolition of the two existing UV banks, controls, and associated accessories. The proposed UV system will be designed for a flow of 2.0 MGD and will include two UV banks and new controls. A new concrete curb with FRP grating will be placed around or atop the existing UV channel to facilitate installation of the new UV system. A temporary means of bypassing the existing UV channel will be required to allow the proposed work to occur in the existing channel. The contractor will also be required to disinfect the bypassed effluent during the work. Faxed bids will not be accepted. Payment for the contract documents is required, with specific fees outlined. A certified check, bank draft, or acceptable bid bond equal to ten percent of the total bid must be submitted with each bid. The successful bidder must furnish satisfactory performance and payment bonds, each for one hundred percent of the contract price, as well as a highway restoration bond. Bidders must comply with all applicable prevailing wage rates, labor standards, nondiscrimination in hiring, and related requirements. Compliance with the Steel Products Procurement Act and the Public Works Employment Verifications Act is required. Bidders must have completed similar projects and must provide a qualifications statement for both the prime contractor and all subcontractors.
