The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for site maintenance and minor construction of project areas within the Coronado National Forest. The project areas are mine waste repository areas and former mine sites remediated under CERCLA. Activities onsite will include soil decompaction, dry seeding, installing erosion control fabric, removal of existing fencing, and a mine feature closure. Arizona Sites Description of Work. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for site maintenance and minor construction of project areas within the Coronado National Forest. The project areas are mine waste repository areas and former mine sites remediated under CERCLA Activities onsite will include soil decompaction, dry seeding, installing erosion control fabric, removal of existing fencing, and a mine feature closure. Project Location: There are three project areas, Lead Queen Mine, Marstellar Mine, and Blue Nose Mine. Lead Queen: The Lead Queen Mine is located on the Coronado National Forest. Access to the Site is east from Tucson on Interstate 10 about 23 miles to Exit 281, and south on State Highway 83 for about 26 miles to State Highway 82 for 13 miles to the town of Patagonia. Take McKeown Avenue east near the Patagonia Post Office and the road turns into Harshaw Road. Travel south on Harshaw Road about 5.2 miles and turn right on Forest Road 4649. Take this road about 0.6 miles and turn right on Forest Road 4684. Take route 4684 about 1.5 miles and park the vehicle. Travel by foot about 0.4 miles over desert terrain to reach the north dump site. Roads are minimally maintained by the Forest Service and may only be accessed by 4-wheel drive vehicles.The legal description is Township 22 S, Range 16 E, NW 1/4 in Section 33. The latitude is 31.484815 and longitude is -110.718891. Blue Nose Mine: Blue Nose Mine is located south of the Marstellar Mine approximately 800 feet west of Harshaw Road at latitude 31.448608, longitude -110.731460, and elevation of 5283 feet amsl. The Site is accessed via an 800-foot, decommissioned road. Before remediation, the mine consisted of six mine adits, one mine shaft and numerous tailings and waste rock stockpiles located adjacent or near the mine shafts and mine adits. Marstellar Mine: The Marstellar Mine is located approximately 1,022 feet west of Harshaw road at latitude 31.454282632, longitude -110.732718839, and elevation 5,235 feet amsl. The Site is accessed via a 750-foot, decommissioned road that can be driven with a high clearance vehicle. The decommissioned road has natural barriers like slash and logs in place to deter public access. These barriers need to be moved for vehicle access. The barriers must be put back in place after on-site activities. Arizona Project Tasks Lead Queen 1. Remove and dispose of approximately 416 LF of existing wire fence, 27 T- posts, 6 steel and concrete corner posts, 2 wood gate posts, at an appropriate off-site facility. The existing ranch gate shall be set aside on-site. Blue Nose Mine 1. Install bat compatible closure at the remaining mine adit. Adit dimensions are approximately 5.2 ft x 5.75 ft. Marstellar Mine 1. Perform dry seeding at the slope area adjacent to the Marstellar Mine Repository and install erosion control fabric, approximately 0.5 acres. New Mexico Sites Scope of Work Work consists of furnishing and installing barbed wire fencing and furnishing and installing a new gate. Location The Nacimiento Mine is located on the Cuba Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest, in Sandoval County, New Mexico. It is located approximately 5 miles southeast of Cuba, New Mexico, adjacent to State Highway 126.
