Construct Highway 141 Water Main Extension including all labor, materials and equipment necessary for approximately 1,793 linear feet of 12" water main installed in open cut, 200 linear feet of 12" water main directionally bored, 320 linear feet of 12" water main trenchless in casing pipe, hydrants, valves, excavation, backfill, traffic control, surface restoration and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup. The project is located along Highway 141 east of Highway 17 in the City of Granger, Iowa. All work and materials are to be in accordance with the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost on file. Access to water main construction on north side of Highway 141 from south end of directional bore under existing sanitary lift station to the north end of the crossing of Highway 141 only at designated location. No other access points allowed. B. Access to construction on north side of Highway 141 is from the access drive that extends west from the curve on NW 102nd Avenue. C. At a point just east of where the access drive includes a drive north and a drive west Contractor to construct access from that point on the access drive south to the alignment of the water main on the former railroad right-of-way. Contractor responsible to clear vegetation and to create suitable access drive. Just to the west of this location is an open area without vegetation. Access in open area west of designated point not allowed as that area is privately owned. D. At completion of construction Contractor to remove access drive and restore area including seeding the area. E. Access to the northwest end of the project is from Park Ridge Drive. No blockage of driveways or access drive to lift station allowed. F. Access to the south end of the trenchless crossing of Highway 141 is from NW 102nd Avenue. No lane restrictions or closures of NW 102 nd Avenue allowed. All proposals and bids must be submitted on official bidding blanks furnished by the City, sealed and plainly identified. Each proposal must be accompanied by either (1) a certified or cashier's check, or certified share draft on an Iowa or U.S. chartered bank or credit union, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the bid, or (2) a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized as a surety in Iowa, in the penal sum of ten percent (10%) of the bid. The bid security must be payable to THE CITY OF GRANGER, IOWA, without any conditions. The bid security will be forfeited if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten days after award and post the required bond. Bidders shall use the bid bond form provided in the specifications. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa. Failure to submit a completed Bidder Status Form may result in rejection. The Council may reject any or all bids and waive informalities or technicalities, and may defer acceptance for up to thirty days. The successful bidder must provide a bond for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, guaranteeing performance, payment for materials and labor, and protection and indemnification of the City, and guarantee the work against faulty workmanship and materials for four years after completion and acceptance by the City Council. The work must commence within ten days after written Notice to Proceed and must be completed by November 30, 2026. Liquidated damages of $500.00 per day will be assessed for each day the project is not completed after the specified date. A sales tax exemption certificate will be available for materials purchased for the project. Progress payments will be made as described in the contract documents.
