Provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to construct the Sycamore Street Improvements project including approximately 14,130 SY of new urban section PCC pavement with roundabout, 3,470 SY of PCC shared use trail, 113 SY of PCC sidewalk, 272 SY of PCC driveways, 2,350 linear feet of storm sewer, testing, mobilization, traffic control and miscellaneous work, including cleanup The project is located along Sycamore Street north of White Oak Lane in the City of Granger, Iowa. Each bid shall be made out on a blank form furnished by the City and must be accompanied in a sealed envelope by bid security in the form of a certified or cashier's check, drawn on a statechartered or federally chartered bank; or a certified share draft drawn on a state-chartered or federally chartered credit union in an amount equal to 10% of the bid; or a bid bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the penal sum of said work, pursuant to the provisions of this notice and the other contract documents. Bidders shall use the bid bond form included in the specifications. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvements for a period of four (4) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City The work shall commence within ten (10) calendar days after the date set forth in written Notice to Proceed. All work including site stabilization but excluding final seeding shall be completed by November 30, 2025 and final seeding shall be completed by May 31, 2026. Liquidated damages in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for each day work remains uncompleted after the interim completion date and liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for each day work remains uncompleted after the final completion date, with due allowance for extensions of the contract periods due to conditions beyond the control of the Contractor. Separate damage assessments shall be made for each of the completion dates. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities or technicalities and to enter into such contract as it shall deem to be to the best interests of the City. The City will award contract on the basis of the lowest responsive and responsible bid.
