Project Scope: Construction of a 12,768 square foot maintenance facility for Polk County Conser-vation staff. Approximately 10,600 SF first floor space with approximately 2,168 SF of mezzanine space above the office area. Work shall consist of wood framed exterior and metal panel exterior finish from building supplier and all other work contained within the construction documents as noted. Spaces included in the building include wash bay, metal and wood work areas, shop and maintenance bays and accessory office and storage space. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check or certified share draft in a separate sealed envelope, clearly marked "Bid Bond" or Bid Security", in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal. The certified or cashier's check shall be drawn on a bank in lowa or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States of America or the certified share draft shall be drawn on a credit union in lowa or chartered under the laws of the United States and payable to the Polk County Conservation Board. Said check or share draft may be cashed, or the bid bond forfeited as liquidated damages in the event the suc-cessful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract within ten (10) days of issuance of a Notice of Award and post bond satisfactory to the Board insuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by law. The bid bond should be executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of lowa and must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Polk County Conservation Board, and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, the payment for materials used in the project and the maintenance of said project in good repair for not less than one (1) year from the time of acceptance of said project by the Polk County Conservation Board. Payment of the cost of said project will be made from such cash funds of the Polk County Con-servation Board as may be legally used for said purpose at the discretion of Board. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities and to hold and consider the bids for 45 days after the date of the bid opening. Bidders are ad-vised that the PCCB intends to select the bidder that it determines to be most responsive and responsible and will provide the highest quality products and efficient services.
