As of May 19, 2026, the project was awarded to GKL Companies, Inc. but the awarded amount is not available. Sealed proposals from qualified general contractors will be received for re-roofing the Southside Athletic Building. Proposals must be submitted in duplicate and accompanied by a cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Etowah County Board of Education in an amount not less than five percent of the bid, but not more than $10,000. Performance and payment bonds and proof of insurance as required in the bid documents will be required at contract signing. Bid documents can be examined at the architect's office and digital documents are available at no cost from the architect. Only general contractors who have been approved through prequalification procedures, attended the mandatory pre-bid conference, and have demonstrated the ability to provide 24/7/365 service with a main office within 60 miles driving distance of the project site, as outlined in the pre-qualification package and Division 1 specifications and Owner-established criteria, are eligible to bid. Bids must be submitted on forms provided by the architect or copies thereof. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and waive technical errors if deemed in their best interest. Pre-qualification requirements: Only general contractors who have been approved to bid pursuant to prequalification procedures, attended the mandatory pre-bid conference, and demonstrated the ability to provide 24/7/365 service with a main office within 60 miles of the project site as described in the pre-qualification package and/or Division 1 specifications and owner-established criteria are eligible. Contractors seeking pre-qualification must submit a printed AIA Form A305 in duplicate by the specified deadline. All bidders for amounts exceeding the threshold set by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must include their current license number on the outside of the sealed bid envelope, or the bid will not be received or considered.
