Renovation of a mixed-use development in Waukee, Iowa. Working plans call for the renovation of a 2,500-square-foot fire / police facility.
Plans call to renovate their existing Police and Fire Department Building to more closely align with the overall operation and design concept implemented at the new Waukee Public Safety Facility. The existing facility is approximately 25,000 SF. The Fire Department occupies the south portion of the building. The north portion of the building formerly occupied by the Police Department will be renovated for the City of Waukee’s Community Development group. A comprehensive renovation of the office and living space is planned including updates to the apparatus bays and doors and repurposing portions of the apparatus bays for fitness and turnout gear areas. Other areas of the building to be updated include the front entry and shared lobby area, as well as outdoor areas. Improvement and repairs are included for exterior areas of masonry, gutters and downspouts and site paving. The majority of the mechanical and electrical systems are anticipated to be updated to service the new functions and layout. As of May 7, 2026, further details regarding firm construction and completion timelines have not been identified.
