The work consists of providing mechanical site preparation and fuels reduction services within the Superior National Forest, including the Laurentian and LaCroix Ranger Districts. Services include all labor, supervision, equipment, transportation, and incidentals necessary to perform rock raking, mastication, and related forestry support activities in accordance with the Performance Work Statement and Schedule of Items. Maps identifying work areas will be provided as attachments. Mechanical site preparation work includes rock raking to a depth of approximately four to eight inches, managing slash within specified limits, complying with equipment requirements, adhering to rutting restrictions, protecting designated leave trees, implementing required resource protection measures, maintaining sanitation standards, and performing road use and maintenance as required. Estimated mechanical site preparation acreage is approximately 146 acres within the Laurentian Ranger District. Fuels reduction work includes mastication of hazardous fuels, mulching vegetation, removal of debris from roads, and minimizing impacts to protected tree species. Estimated mastication acreage is approximately 40 acres within the LaCroix Ranger District. All work shall be performed in compliance with the technical requirements outlined in the Performance Work Statement. The period of performance for mechanical site preparation is anticipated to run from June 1, 2026 through October 31, 2026, subject to soil conditions. The period of performance for mastication and fuels work is anticipated to run from June 1, 2026 through April 1, 2027.
