New Buffalo Area Schools is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete resurfacing improvements to the MS/HS West parking lot. The objectives are to improve overall parking lot condition and longevity, provide a smooth, durable driving and parking surface, strengthen high-traffic drive lanes for long-term performance, and maintain the existing layout and traffic flow. Scope of Work: - Remove existing asphalt to the gravel base by rotomilling - Fine grade and compact the entire project area - For standard parking areas: furnish, install, and compact 1-1/2” of 4EL leveling course asphalt and 1-1/2” of 5EL wearing course asphalt - For heavy duty drive lanes (excluding fire lane behind school): furnish, install, and compact 3” of 4EL leveling course asphalt and 2” of 4EL wearing course asphalt - Stripe parking lot per existing layout Site conditions include that staking and layout are excluded unless otherwise specified, contractors are not responsible for private utilities or irrigation not marked through MISS DIG, materials must meet MDOT Tier 2 specifications, asphalt binder should be 64-22, and pricing may fluctuate per petroleum market conditions. Contractors must demonstrate experience with asphalt milling and resurfacing, capability to perform grading, compaction, and paving work, proper insurance and licensing for work in Michigan, and ability to meet school site safety requirements. Proposals must include company information, a lump sum cost and breakdown if applicable, assumptions, proposed start and completion dates, description of asphalt materials and installation methods, milling, grading, compaction approach, and proof of liability insurance. NBAS will evaluate proposals based on cost, contractor experience and qualifications, schedule, and quality of materials and installation approach. Contractors must coordinate work to minimize disruption, maintain a clean and safe worksite, and are responsible for all utility locating prior to excavation.
