New Buffalo Area Schools requests proposals from qualified contractors to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete improvements to the Transportation parking lot, including expansion, resurfacing, and associated site work. The objectives are to improve overall parking lot condition and durability, expand usable parking and traffic flow areas, provide a properly graded and compacted surface for long-term performance, and upgrade traffic control features to support operations at the Transportation facility. Scope of Work: - Site Preparation & Excavation: Excavate expansion and new construction areas to a depth of 9" below existing grade, remove three tree stumps, and verify field conditions prior to excavation. - Base Installation: Install 6" of 22A stabilized gravel in all new/expanded areas, fine grade entire project area, and compact all areas prior to paving. - Asphalt Work: Rotomill and remove existing asphalt to gravel base, furnish, install, and compact asphalt (3" average thickness of 4EL leveling course, 2" of 4EL wearing course). - Striping & Traffic Controls: Stripe parking lot per existing layout and install two new traffic loops at gates. Site conditions: Contractor must verify drainage, is not responsible for unmarked private utilities or irrigation, materials must meet MDOT Tier 2 specifications, and asphalt binder grades are specified. Instructions to Bidders: - Proposals must include company information, lump sum cost and breakdown, project schedule, materials and installation methods, proof of liability insurance, and clearly listed assumptions. - Contractors should demonstrate relevant experience, necessary insurance and licensing, and the ability to meet school site safety requirements. - Proposals will be evaluated based on cost, contractor experience and qualifications, schedule, and quality of materials and installation approach. - Contractors must coordinate work to minimize disruption, maintain a clean and safe worksite, and be responsible for utility locating prior to excavation.
