The contractor shall furnish and deliver bulk highway road salt (sodium chloride) suitable for winter road maintenance operations. The Town anticipates purchasing approximately 1,200 – 2,000 tons per winter season. Delivery must be to the Town of Fairfax DPW Facility, 317 Fletcher Road, Fairfax, VT 05454, coordinated with the DPW Operations Manager. Vendors should be capable of delivering within 72 hours of request or sooner during emergency winter conditions. Salt must be highway grade sodium chloride meeting AASHTO M143 standards, free flowing and suitable for mechanical spreading. Proposals must clearly state price per ton delivered, any fuel surcharges, minimum loads if applicable, and pricing for treated salt if offered. The contract period shall cover the Winter Season 2026–2027, with the possibility of extension. Proposals must include vendor contact information, price per ton delivered, delivery capabilities, and references for similar municipal contracts. The Town of Fairfax reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals and is not required to select the lowest bid.
