Site work for a civil project in Morton, Washington. Completed plans call for site work for a development.
Commercially thin 240 acres of timber within the Peterman Hill Unit of the Cowlitz Wildlife Area. Specified road improvement work and road grading will be included as part of the project. Scope of Work The objective of this contract is to thin the specified stands from below to enhance wildlife habitat. The thinning is specifically intended to improve tree growth rates and stimulate understory development to enhance wildlife habitat. The cut trees are to be removed from the stand to create more open conditions that facilitate access and movement of deer and elk and improve light penetration to understory vegetation. The removed trees are to be sold for pulp or dimensional lumber production to help offset costs of the thinning. The 240-acre project is made up of ten separate units (herein after referred to as the Contract Area), these are shown on the attached Peterman Thinning Operations map included in Exhibit A. The units to be thinned are generally even aged stands largely dominated by Douglas fir, with lesser amounts of Western hemlock, grand fir, red alder, black cottonwood, and bigleaf maple. The thinning of each unit will be completed using ground-based logging techniques to achieve an average stand density of 100 trees per acre (20 foot on center average spacing).
