Renovation of a fitness / recreation center in Bangor, Maine. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.

The City of Bangor is requesting proposals from qualified firms for replacement of the boiler at Parks and Recreation Center, 647 Main Street in Bangor, Maine. The scope of work will include the removal and disposal of existing equipment as well as installation of a new commercially designed hot water boiler. In your proposal, please specify whether you currently have, or are in the process of developing, a domestic violence policy. If you do not have such a policy, let us know if you would like to receive a copy of the City of Bangor's policy as a reference. It is the responsibility of the Proposer(s) to see that their proposals have sufficient time to be received by the Purchasing Department before the submittal deadline. Any proposal, portion of a proposal, or requested proposal revision received at the City Purchasing Department after the time and date specified will be returned to the Proposer unopened or, if by electronic submission, deleted without being opened. No Proposer may withdraw their proposal for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of opening. All proposals shall be subject to acceptance by the City during this period. To withdraw a proposal prior to the opening, the Proposer shall request the withdrawal in writing. All costs associated with the withdrawal (i.e., mailing fees) will be borne by the Proposer. Event Bid Description: Submissions must be received Submission of documents can be completed by: Emailing to bids@bangormaine.gov; or Hand Delivery to 262 Harlow Street, Bangor, ME (back entrance of building at City of Bangor entrance); or US Post Office addressed to 73 Harlow Street, Purchasing Department, Bangor, ME 04401 (items must be received by the deadline); or All Other Delivery Services to City of Bangor: Purchasing Department, 262 Harlow Street, Bangor, ME 04401 (proposal must be received by the deadlines). All submissions should reference "Proposal No. P26-03: Parks and Recreation Center Boiler Replacement." Proposals will be publicly opened at the time stated above in the Council Chambers, 1st Floor, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor, Maine. Work will include the replacement of one (1) HB Smith boiler and the installation of one (1) new replacement boiler. Replacement boiler should be sized appropriately for the Parks and Recreation Center. Additional work will also include replacing the existing circulators, expansion tank, controls, valves, and gauges in the existing boiler room. New boilers must integrate into existing Honeywell zone controls. All pipes in the boiler room are to be insulated to the extent possible. The boilers will fire on natural gas. The existing masonry chimney is to be updated, as required by the Code. Successful Proposer will need to coordinate and work with the Parks and Recreation Director or their designee. The successful Proposer will need to remove and dispose of the existing boilers as well as other removed parts and equipment in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. Successful Proposer must acquire required permits and inspections. Question Deadline 08/08/2025 at 4:30 PM ET - Any questions must be directed in writing to bids@bangormaine.gov. The City will provide a response by 4:30 P.M. on Friday, August 15, 2025. This response will be in the form of an addendum, accessible on the City's website. Notifications will be sent to those who have signed up to receive notifications at online through online . Notifications will be sent when new addenda are released. The City reserves the right to reject any proposals, waive any informalities or defects in proposals, or accept a higher-cost proposal if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City. The City also reserves the right to request clarification of any details from the successful Proposer. Submissions must be received by 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
