Due to space, aging facilities, and current design/usage concerns, LPS is exploring numerous options to maximize and expand space to accommodate growing student enrollment and programming. The driver being additional housing developments in Lewiston. This will allow for pathways and space at all K-8 Schools potentially. With the purchase of 287 Main Street, we are looking at a 3 year plan. Phase 1: Stabilization of building envelope and systems will be completed allowing for concepts of the spaces, which will include the Dingley Building. Phase 2: Build out spaces including furniture etc. Phase 3: Ensure other spaces have maximized their use of space as needed based on enrollment and ensure those spaces are up to code. This could include repurposing Dingley or renovations to current school buildings becoming a school again or other facilities upgrades. This project is included in the City of Lewiston's FY 2027-2031 Capital Improvement Plan. It is still in the conceptual phase with options still being explored. Information regarding a design firm has not yet been made available. Funding is allotted for FY 2027 and 2028. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
