Site work for an educational facility in Portland, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility; and one-story above grade educational facility.
Work under this contract includes the installation of a new exterior lighting system at the Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS) in Portland, Maine. The work includes the demolition of select existing utilities, installation of new light poles, installation of new building mounted lights, underground conduit, lighting controls, and coordination with existing site utilities and infrastructure. Contractors will be responsible for all trenching, backfilling, electrical connections, asphalt and loam restoration, and compliance with local and state permitting and safety regulations. Scope of work specifics include: - Demolition of select existing utilities - Installation of new light poles - Installation of new building mounted lights - Underground conduit and lighting controls - Coordination with existing site utilities and infrastructure - Remove and reconstruct existing bituminous sidewalk segments in ADA compliant bituminous concrete sidewalk - Installation of new and/or reset granite curbing - Construction of pedestrian curb ramps to meet ADA standards - Installation of pavement markings - Removal of existing pole and building mounted light fixtures as indicated on plan - Installation and connection of new pole and building mounted light fixtures to existing lighting control scheme - Removal of waste/debris from site General instructions to bidders include: - Bids must be submitted electronically or in person by the indicated deadline - Attendance at the mandatory pre-bid conference is required for eligibility to bid - The contractor shall submit a Traffic Control Plan for all work affecting public right of way and school facility operation - Particular care must be taken to provide ADA compliant pedestrian access at all times - Coordination with local utility companies and other city contractors is required - Excavations must be backfilled and paved or covered with steel plates at the end of each shift - The contractor is responsible for permanent pavement markings, loaming, seeding, and mulching disturbed areas - All curb ramps must meet ADA requirements before acceptance - Project must be complete by the specified date and all quantities must be field verified prior to starting work - Bids from vendors not registered with the Purchasing Office may be rejected - Only those firms represented at the mandatory pre-bid meeting may bid - All bids must be open for ninety days from opening - The city reserves the right to accept or reject any bids and portions thereof All questions shall be directed in writing ONLY to the Purchasing Office at the above address and be received 12:00 noon on May 7th, 2026 (FAX 207-874-8652, or email pfitzgerald@portlandmaine.gov Deadline for questions will now be 12:00 noon on May 14th, 2026 as per ADDENDUM 1.
