Site work, paving and renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Redwater, Alberta. Working plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel.
Replacement of the Hwy 38 bridge (BF 74233) carrying Hwy 38:10 over the North Saskatchewan River (13 km SE of Redwater) - a vital transportation corridor in Alberta's Industrial Heartland. The new Vinca route will extend from Edmonton to Tofield, Chipman, Lamont and north on 830 to Redwater. The new heavy-haul bridge will be able to handle loads greater than 200 tonnes, the necessary river-crossing capacity to support future industrial developments. Work includes replacement of BF 74233, realignment of Highway 38 (38:10: C1 KM 17.300 AND KM 22.680), and Highway 830 (830:04: C1 KM 11.330 AND KM 12.538). Project will include additional construction on Highways 38 and 830, and the widening of Highways 834 and 644. TIMELINE: Project is currently included in the 3-year construction program. Tender and construction schedules are yet to be determined. Further update may be available in 2026. *Construction budget to be confirmed. The value listed reflects the $90-million provincial funding announced for the project in AB budget 2018.
