Demolition, site work, remodeling and renovation of a mixed-use development in La Jolla, California. Design plans call for the renovation of a recreation facility; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
Scope: The outdoor recreation space would be rearranged to move the basketball courts toward the tennis courts at the La Jolla Tennis Club, develop a T-shaped playground with new ocean-themed equipment closer to the front of the building, improve seating and add a trellis element for shade with a variety of trees. Changes to the 105-year-old recreation center building would include a stairway and/or elevator to increase access to the mezzanine level and a rooftop deck overlooking the ocean and the play fields. The basement of the building may also be improved for public use. As of June 6 2022, schematic design has been completed and this is onto fundraising stages. An architect has been selected.
