Remodeling of a mixed-use development in Parker, Arizona. Completed plans call for the remodel of a laboratory facility; and educational facility.
As of September 8, 2021, multiple attempts to sources have gone unanswered.* Saying the cost had finally become affordable, the Board of the Parker Unified School District approved a quote from CORE Construction for remodeling the auto shop at Parker High School. At a special meeting Feb. 26, the Board approved a quote of $862,950, with the understanding that $400,000 would come from the Western Arizona Vocational Education-Career Technical Education District. Parker Schools Superintendent Brad Sale said the other funds will come from the district's capital projects fund. Sale said they had to make some cuts to get the cost down to the $862,000 level. advertisement "We eliminated a lot of fluff," he said. Sale listed some of the items that would be included in the remodeling. These included filling in a pit used for oil changes and lubrication jobs. "It's a fall hazard," Sale said. A second lift will be built to handle larger vehicles, Sale said. A new shade structure will be added. A new electrical system will be installed with new lighting and more outlets. A new ventilation system will be installed in the welding area, and new welding booths will be installed. As a final touch, Sale said a new epoxy floor finish will be applied that will be oil and stain resistant. Under the state contract, Sale said change orders would not be allowed. However, they project has a contingency fund that will be returned to the district if it is not used. The architect for the project is Michael Taylor of Prescott. Sale said the plans call for the remodeling work to start on March 16, with a completion date by the middle of July. *This project has been updated to Award status based on historical confirmations and outreach.
