Renovation of an educational facility in Blackshear, Georgia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 130,000-square-foot educational facility.

The Pierce County Board of Education is soliciting bids for the application of a liquid seamless roof system over the existing roof at Pierce County Middle School. General scope Provide all materials and labor for the application of a "GAF Acrylic Coating System" or equivalent to 118,000 sqft of existing metal roof, and 12,000 sqft of Gravel Roof. Customer will select color choice after bid award. Contractor is to provide any additional costs for colors at time of bid submission. Material Specification GAF 5 step Acrylic Coating System and APOC EMULSION W/ CHOPPED FIBERGLASS SYSTEM FOR GRAVEL ROOFS. Specify material system being bid. Submit all material specifications and coating system processes if offering an alternate or equivalent system. General Specifications Metal: PRESSURE WASH Clean entire roof surface to remove loose rust, dirt, debris and contaminants that would interfere with the proper adhesion of the coating. Degreasers and solvents should be used to enhance cleaning performance. PREPARATION AND SEALING Tighten, replace, and add screws as reqiured. Seal all fasteners with HydroStop Butter Grade waterproofing. Inspect all horizontal seams and flashings for integrity and seal with SeamStitch Polyester Fabric and HydroStop Butter Grade Coating. Vertical seams are waterproofed with fabric only if there is an issue in that area. ACRYLIC COATING Apply 2.0 gallons/100sf of GAF Top Coat Acrylic Coating by spray over the entire roof surface. Achieve approximately 16 to 18 dry mills in the field and over 100 mills on critical areas. Gravel: REMOVE ALL GRAVEL Remove all gravel from roof either by hand or machine. PRESSURE WASH Lightly clean entire roof surface to remove loose rust, dirt, debris and contaminants that would interfere with the proper adhesion of the emulsion. Degreasers and solvents may be used to enhance cleaning performance. PREPARATION AND SEALING Around perimeter and cracks on roof itself, embed 6 inch Polyester fabric in Emulsion w/glass to make seamless. Overlaps on the roof, embed 6 inch Polyester fabric in Emulsion w/glass to make seamless. Asphalt Emulsion w/ Fiberglass First Coat: Apply 6.0 - 6.5 gallons/100sf by pump, of APOC EMULSION w/ glass. Second Coat: Apply APOC EMULSION w/ glass at 6.0 to 6.5 gallons/100sf. The total average thickness of Emulsion embedded in the field will be approx. 300 mills or 0.3 inches. Along the critical areas such as perimeter and cracks, the average total thickness will be about 400 mills or 0.4 inches. NOTE: There MAY be certain areas that will require "building up" with the emulsion w/ glass EMULSION SILVER ALUMINUM COATING APOC non-fibered aluminum coating shall be applied by pump at a rate of 1.0 gallons per sqft in 1 coat. It is the responsibility of the contractor to verify all existing conditions and measurements prior to submission of the bid. Any overlooked conditions or misjudgment in measurements, work/labor required to complete the project, or material calculations are the sole responsibility of the contractor. It is also the responsibility of the contractor to protect the site, using signage, barricades, and temporary fencing if required in order to provide a safe work environment. Contractor will be required to leave jobsite clean and safe upon completion. Contractor shall be responsible for all injury or damage of any kind resulting from this work to persons or property regardless of ownership. In addition to the liability imposed upon the Contractor on account of personal injury (including death) or property damage suffered through the Contractor's negligence, which liability is not impaired or otherwise affected hereby, the Contractor assumes the obligation to hold the Owner harmless and to indemnify the Owner from every expense liability or payment arising out of or through injury, including death, to any person or persons or damage to property (regardless of who may be the owner of the property) or any place in which work is located arising out of or suffered through any negligent act or omission of the Contractor, Its Agents, Servants or Employees. The Contractor agrees to comply with the provisions of the Worker's Compensation Laws of the State of Georgia and to require all Subcontractors likewise to comply. Prior to the beginning of work, the contractor agrees to furnish the following to the Owner for itself and for each Subcontractor: certificate from insurance company showing issuance of Worker's Compensation Coverage for the State of Georgia or a certificate from Georgia Worker's Compensation Board showing proof of ability to pay compensation directly. Awarding of bid will be made upon verification of all bid documentation required. Qualifications If awarded the bid, please be prepared to submit your companies insurance and liability information upon request. The Pierce County Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals for any or all products covered in this Bid and to waive informalities or defects in submissions to accept such Bid if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Board.
