The City of Redding (City) is soliciting proposals for construction management services including inspection, materials testing, and resident engineering duties for the Canyon Road Bridge Over Anderson Cottonwood Irrigation District (ACID) Bridge Replacement Project (Project). Funding for the Project is a combination of 88.53% Federal Highway Bridge Program (HBP) and 11.47% City matching funds. The existing Canyon Road Bridge (State Bridge No. 06C-0307) over ACID Canal was originally built in 1970. The 28 foot by 96-foot bridge is a continuous 3 -span reinforced concrete slab with reinforced concrete pier walls and reinforced concrete diaphragm type abutments all supported on spread footings. The Caltrans Bridge Inspection Report list the bridge as "Functionally Obsolete". The bridge is located approximately 0.2 miles southwest of State Route 273 and carries Canyon Road which is classified as a local urban collector. The Project includes widening the bridge to a width of 40 feet, constructing 129 feet of type 732SW concrete barrier and 117 feet of type 842 concrete barrier railing, relocation of a 16-inch Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP) water main, replacement of an 8-inch water main and 4- inch gas main, and providing a 2-inch Asphalt Concrete Overlay between the bridge curbs. The road work includes about 700 feet of variable width widening, cold milling, and 570 tons of paving, 400 cubic yards of base, over 4,000 square feet of sidewalk and driveways, 700 feet of curb and gutter, 210 feet of 16-inch DIP, ADA ramps, 126 feet of metal guard railing, drainage, signs, striping and utility work. The bridge work includes 152 cubic yards of Structure Excavation, 108 cubic yards of Structural Concrete, 24,000 lbs. of Bar Reinforcing Steel and 3,100 square feet of Deck Seal. All quantities are approximate. This scope of work includes Services Prior to Construction, Services During Construction and Services After Construction. A Consultant Services Agreement will be executed for the combined services. It is the intent of the City to hire a consultant who will provide complete construction management, resident engineering, perform materials testing and inspect the construction of the project with minimal support from City personnel.
