Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Mill Valley, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
Project Description: Work generally consists of mobilization, traffic control, implementing a water pollution control program, curb ramp upgrades, removing and replacing concrete and hot mix asphalt pavement, traffic striping replacement, roadside sign relocation, clean-up of the project area, and other items of work as shown on the plans. Project is located at several sites throughout the City of Mill Valley. Project is to be completed within Twenty Five (25) consecutive working days from the effective date of the Notice to Proceed for the base bid. A Bid Bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid amount payable to the City of Mill Valley shall accompany the Proposal. All bids must be submitted on the proposal Form obtained from the Department of Public Works and shall be accompanied by a Proposal Guaranty of at least ten (10%) of the base bid. Guaranties shall be in the form of cash, a certified or cashier's check or Bid Bond payable to the City of Mill Valley. Failure of the successful bidder to execute and return the contract or to file acceptable bonds, as required, within the time allotted shall be cause for the annulment of the award and forfeiture of the Proposal Guaranty. Performance Bond shall be in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the total amount bid by Contractor in his proposal. Labor and Materials Bond shall be in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the total amount bid by Contractor in his proposal. Award of contract, if awarded, will be to the lowest responsible bidder whose proposal complies with prescribed requirements, and will be within thirty (30) days after receipt of proposals. Bids are required for the entire work described herein. The City hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business and woman-owned business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or national origin in consideration for an award. Telephones will not be available to bidders for the preparation of bids or for calling in bid results. Bid forms received after the designated time will not be accepted. No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the opening of bids. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities in the bids. TIME LIMIT AND LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: Contractor shall commence work on or before the tenth (10th) working day following date of mailing of written notification by the Department of Public Works that the contract has been awarded by the City Manager. During this ten (10) working day interval, the necessary contract documents shall be executed by Contractor and returned to the Department of Public Works. All work for the base bid, shall be completed within Twenty-Five (25) working days from and after the said tenth (10th) day.
