Site work for a water / sewer project in Findlay, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Update:The existing 8-inch waterline on N. Main Street will be upgraded to a 12-inch line to help with fire flows in the area. At the current state if there is an emergency situation the system has the potential to be stressed and not have enough flow quantities for fire suppression. The upgraded line will provide more flow to the area for any fire suppression needs. Project is included in City of Findlay Fiscal Year 2025-2034 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://thecourier.com/news/577368/council-to-vote-on-21-million-in-capital-spending/ FINDLAY — Findlay's proposed first round of capital spending, about $2.1 million, certainly reads like a municipal shopping list. Council is expected to vote Tuesday on the spending. Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Findlay Municipal Building, 318 Dorney Plaza. All council meetings are open to the public and are livestreamed on Findlay's YouTube channel: Findlay Ohio. In all, the city's $30.6 million capital budget for 2025 includes projects and equipment that are in the planning, design, construction, or purchase phase. About $8 million will be spent from the city's capital improvement funds, with the balance of the improvements paid from restricted accounts for city utilities, including water, sewer and stormwater funds. Grant funding is expected to account for about $14 million of the budget. Last year, grants were expected to cover about $11 million of the city's $30.4 million plan. First round spending includes a laundry list of equipment and projects. In a letter to council, dated March 12, City Engineer Jeremy Kalb said the money is needed to get projects started and to allow city departments to order equipment with long lead times so it's available for use when needed. A total of $979,000 would be transferred from the city's capital improvement funds for the following expenses: • $428,000 would be spent on equipment needed by the Findlay Police Department, including $320,000 to replace five patrol vehicles, $95,000 for duty handguns and $13,000 for a forensic computer. • $155,000 would be spent on equipment for the Street Department, including $75,000 for a pickup truck and $40,000 for a portable message board. • $110,000 to replace the city's primary computer network security device. • $92,000 would be spent on park equipment, including a pickup truck for $75,000 and a mower replacement for $17,000. • $75,000 would be spent on traffic signal equipment and another $10,000 for a wire trailer, needed to haul large spools of wire. • $75,000 to buy a compact tractor for the Recreation Department. • $30,000 will be used to purchase a mower deck to be used by the Findlay Airport, 1615 Gray St. • $27,000 to purchase new gas masks for the Findlay Fire Department Tactical Emergency Medical Services Team. • $17,000 to buy a replacement mower for cemetery maintenance. A total of $400,000 would be appropriated from the city's sewer fund. The money would be used to purchase equipment for the city's Sewer Maintenance Department and the Findlay Water Pollution Control Center, 1201 River St. A total of $250,000 is needed to replace a pump. A total of $75,000 would be spent on the city's annual manhole adjustment work. Other purchases would include an easement machine for $70,000 and a pickup truck for $60,000. A total of $20,000 would be spent to replace a mower. A total of $50,000 each would be appropriated for the design of several sanitary sewer projects, including those planned for South West Street, Oregon Street, North Main Street at Cherry Street, Lawn and Scott avenues. An additional $705,000 would be appropriated from the city's water fund, with $250,000 needed to replace a generator and $150,000 to repair a tunnel at the Findlay Water Treatment Plant, 136 N. Blanchard St. Asphalt repairs at the plant are expected to cost $85,000. Masonry repairs will cost about $75,000. A total of $145,000 would be appropriated for the design of three waterline projects on Edgehill Road, Beecher and France streets. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The existing 8-inch waterline on N.
