Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Marshfield, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The Town of Marshfield is seeking proposals to repair the parking area, entry path, and gravel bridge aprons at Martin Covered Bridge Park that were damaged during the flooding that occurred in July of 2023. Repairs are intended to return the park to pre-flood condition. SCOPE OF WORK Repairs must include the following elements. A map of the areas to be repaired is included with this document. Because this is public park with important ecological and aesthetic values, all work must be completed in a manner that minimizes the impact caused by heavy equipment on the land surrounding the parking area, entry path, and bridge. Any collateral damage to surrounding land must be repaired prior to completion of the project. PARKING AREA o Fill in eroded spots along the edges of the parking area. Repair drainage of the entire parking area so that water will run off during rain and flooding events. ENTRY PATH o Repair the base and reconstruct the 4-foot wide,ADA accessible staymat path. The entry path is approximately 400 feet long. o Evaluate the culvert that runs under the entry path (see map for location) to see if it must be: a) simply unclogged, b) removed and reset, or c) removed and replaced with a larger culvert in conformance with the Town of Marshfield's codes and standards. o Reestablish effective drainage between the entry path and Route 2. Water should drain parallel to the entry path into the drainage ditch that passes through the culvert that runs under the entry path. o The new gravel surface of the entry path must be crowned so that water will drain off the path GRAVEL BRIDGE APRONS o At the entrances to the covered bridge, the gravel aprons have been eroded by recent flooding events. New material must be added to repair these aprons. LAWN AREAS o Regrade to correct drainage o Seed with conservation mix, and mulch TERMS AND CONDITIONS Bids must be lump sum including all work listed in the included Scope of Work and discussed at the site visit. Please include a schedule for completing the project. It is the Town's desire to have this project completed by early fall. The Contractor is responsible for purchasing materials for the project, as well as supplying and maintaining any road signs needed at the parking area for safety. Materials to be used on the project will be exempt from sales tax; the Town will supply a tax-exempt form. The Town reserves the right to waive any informality or minor defects, or to accept or reject any or all bids. Award of the contract is contingent on funding. Contractors submitting bids will be notified of the Town's intent as soon as possible after the bids are opened. A draft of the proposed contract is attached. Any questions can be sent to clerk@marshfieldvt.gov . Questions may be submitted to clerk@marshfieldvt.gov by September 25. Answers to any questions will be submitted in writing to any contractors who have attended the site visit.
