Granite School District is soliciting statements of qualifications from qualified vendors to provide architectural services for Brockbank JHS STEM project. The Granite School District is converting the former Cyprus High School second campus back to Brockbank Junior High School, emphasizing a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The concepts and needs outlined below are based on a preliminary site walk conducted by the district during summer 2024. Originally constructed in 1951, Brockbank Junior High School served the community until 2016, when the addition of ninth grade to Cyprus High School required additional classroom space, transforming Brockbank into a secondary campus for Cyprus High. Junior high students were then relocated to Matheson and Hunter Junior High Schools. With the upcoming completion of the new Cyprus High School campus at a different location, the district now plans to re-establish Brockbank as a junior high school with a STEM focus to better serve the needs of the community. The district's architectural study and design proposal include suggested improvements to support this reconfiguration and create a modern learning environment. This project is budgetarily constrained, with an approximate budget of $1.5 million. The selected architectural and engineering firm will be expected to develop cost-effective solutions that maximize the value of improvements while adhering strictly to the budgetary limitations. Creative approaches that prioritize essential upgrades and ensure a high-quality STEM learning environment within these financial constraints are essential.
