The bid and contract documents accompanying them describe the work to be done and the materials to be furnished for the construction of VFS CHILLER INSTALLATION AND ELECTRICAL SERVICE UPGRADE, for Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan. This project is being bid as a complete package to one Primer Bidder acting as a General Contractor. The VFS Chiller Installation and Electrical Service Upgrade Project is a two-phase project with Phase One starting in December 2024 and a completion date of April 15, 2025. Phase Two has a tentative start and finish date of May 2026. Phase One of the project is the preparation and installation of the new chiller and associated mechanical and electrical equipment for a fully operational cooling system per the construction documents. Ferris State University has pre-purchased the chiller from Johnson Controls. Chiller specification can be found in the construction documents. Delivery of the chiller to the project site is the responsibility of Johnson Controls. The General Contractor awarded this bid will be responsible for coordinating with Johnson Controls on the delivery date of the chiller to the site, acceptance of chiller onsite, crane and rigging necessary to set the chiller on the equipment pad and all final connections. Due to the outdated and undersized electrical equipment in VFS, this project includes an electrical service upgrade to the building. Due to anticipated lead time of electrical equipment, there is likely a Phase Two of this project. To provide power to support the new chiller, power will be feed from MCO building adjacent to the VFS building "temporarily". This scope of work will include removal of existing ceiling tile and grid, installation of conduit and conductors, terminations in the MCO Electrical Panel and re-installation of ceiling tile and grid. (We ask that you salvage the ceiling tile and grid and re-install when work is completed. Any damaged ceiling tile and grid will be responsible of the contractor to replace.) Phase One scope of work shall include installation of conduits, conductor, etc. in preparation for new MDP, Primary Transformer, and Switchgear planned for installation during phase 2. Phase One scope of work shall include all labor, materials, and equipment needed to install complete systems per the construction documents. Where specified in the Notice to Contractors, bids shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee of not less than five (5%) percent of the amount of the base bid. Additionally, where specified in the Notice to Contractors successful bidder shall furnish a 100% Performance and Payment bond. All bonding and insurance requirements are contained in the Instructions to Bidders and/or General Conditions. Ferris State University Purchasing Office reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive all formalities and/or technicalities where the best interest of the University may be served.
