The Town of Wethersfield seeks proposals from qualified consulting firms to conduct evaluations, and provide survey, design, permitting and construction administration services, for an expanded passive recreational area near Spring Street Pond, and for structural improvements to the associated dam spillway and embankment to improve erosion controls and reduce flooding. The selected consultant and/or any subconsultants shall be knowledgeable with park design, landscape architecture, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and other standard civil engineering practices, and have experience with tasks associated with similar projects. The project area is centered around Spring Street Pond, which is located along Beaver Brook in the eastern portion of town and extends from the Great Meadows Conservation Trust property located immediately south of Maple Street (State Route 3) to Main Street located to the north. The entire project area is located within the FEMA 100-year floodplain. The main components of the project shall include: o Construction of new park amenities and landscape improvements near Spring Street Pond to enhance the existing passive recreational area o Reconstruction of the earthen embankment and improvements to outlet controls for the pond o Constructing new walks and trails to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety with connections between Main Street, Broad Street and Middletown Avenue along the Beaver Brook Linear Park, which may include removal of some local roads The Town reserves the right to reject any proposal deemed not to be in its best interest and waive minor technicalities.
