The North Animas Trail Extension starts at Animas Park and continues 3.25 miles upstream (northeast). Phases I and II are funded and will complete the trail from Gateway Park to a point just downstream of the Piñon Hills Blvd. Extension. Phase III of the trail will start under the Browning Parkway bridge, routes users up to the street level to cross the Animas River on Browning Parkway and then continues to the riverside of the Farmington Museum. Phase I: Middlefork Square to new terminus just west of Piñon Hills Extension ($2,100,000) Phase II: Farmington Museum and Gateway Park ($1,200,000) Phase III: Gateway Park to Middlefork Square ($2,100,000) Phase IV: Browning Parkway to Farmington Museum ($1,200,000) The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of May 14, 2025, project is funded for FY2025. Per owner, there is no further information or updates on this project since it is still with PRCA and they are still working out the funding and details. Since they are already half-way through the budget year, they may not see this project go out for RFQP for several months if not until FY2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
