Brookside Park's existing skate park has outlived its usable life and has become more of an attractive nuisance than an amenity. Given its age and current condition, the skate park needs a complete replacement and upgrade. The City proposes to develop a redesigned community skatepark of approximately 24,000 square feet. The community skatepark requires a facility that is safe, interesting and unique, and can be used by multiple ages and skills. The redesign shall include amenities that provide tandem usage for low and high skill, entry/exit and connection to adjacent areas, and gathering areas for spectators. Other amenities include park lighting, shade structures, and restrooms. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of May 14, 2025, per owner, there is no further information or updates on this project since it is still with PRCA and they are still working out the funding and details. Since they are already half-way through the budget year, they may not see this project go out for RFQP for several months if not until FY2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
