The Spokane Tribal Hatchery (STH) is currently a raceway flow-through system which is a common aquaculture system which relies on high water flow through shallow tanks to maintain water quality and remove waste. Water enters the hatchery from an aquifer and a well and discharges to a creek which runs to Tshimakain Creek and into the Spokane River. The purpose of this project is to install infrastructure for water recirculation at STH and reuse approximately 1.7 million gallons of water per day by collecting water that is flowing out of the raceways and pumping it back to the top of the system for reuse. In drought situations this will greatly reduce the dependence and draw on the aquifer and alleviate additional strains on water rights and users in the watershed. Procurement, design, and installation of the system is expected to take approximately 2 years, finishing in December 2026. Once completed it is anticipated that the infrastructure upgrades to reuse water at the hatchery will strengthen tribal water resource management. This will be evidenced by decreasing the amount of water needed to maintain hatchery operations while also resulting in healthier fish throughout the growing season. Site Design has already been completed. This RFP is to encompass the management of, and construction of the completed design. If work must be sub-contracted information and costs of these will need to be included. All components should be evaluated in detail and include a factor of safety to ensure the system is functional. During the design implementation process, each component should be optimized for the space available.
