Renovation of a mixed-use development in Riverside, California. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Following the relocation of the STEM Center, space will be freed up in the existing MLK Building. Recommendations include a major renovation to the existing building to expand tutorial services and improve visibility and access to the essential instructional support services housed there. The MLK High Tech Center was constructed in 1968 and has had no major renovations. The current Facilities Condition Index (FCI) is 77% and most buildings systems have outlived their useful life cycles. Once renovated the MLK Building will provide classroom and lab instructional space, faculty/staff offices, study and tutoring rooms, and other support spaces. Scope of work will include replacement of building systems, infrastructure, and accessibility improvements. As of February 10, 2026, this project is included in the state's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
