Site work and new construction of a warehouse / distribution facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the construction of a warehouse / distribution facility; and for site work for a warehouse / distribution facility.

**As of August 26, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** The City of Pittsburgh Office of Management and Budget, on behalf of the Department of Public Works, is soliciting bids from qualified vendors for the multi-prime construction of a new salt storage facility, to be known as "Salt Storage Facility (SSF) ." This project consists of the following scope of work: 1. Demolition of site elements as indicated in the construction documents, including an existing diner and an existing salt dome. 2. Preparation of site for new salt facility and driveway, including grading and excavation for retention pond. 3. Construction of new salt storage building using glulam and concrete structure, including a public works garage and comfort station. Location-946 Saw Mill Run Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Scope also includes the demolition of the existing salt dome structure, the demolition of the adjacent building known as the "Diner Building", also the demolition of an existing hydroxychloroquine acid tank, civil work & stormwater facilities, and any associated site work required. This project is essential for the core functions of DPW street maintenance division. The current salt dome lifespan has come to an end and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. The existing Salt Storage Dome in Saw Mill Run Blvd (Currently having approx. 5,000 tons of salt storage capacity) is structurally deficient. Therefore, it needs to be demolished along with an adjacent abandoned diner building that is also owned by the City. Both lots have been consolidated into 946 Saw Mill Run Blvd. to allow the construction of a new SSF with approximately 7,500 tons of capacity. The proximity of the SSF to Saw Mill Run requires this project to incorporate storm water management facilities to protect the stream from the salt impact. The timeline details are listed in the project scope as the main requirements from DPW regarding the proper and continuing winter operations of their DPW Streets Maintenance Division. Question Deadline 06/27/2025 at 10:00 AM ET All questions shall be submitted via online. Each Bid must be accompanied by a Guarantee in the form a cashier's check or money order, in an amount not exceeding five (5) percent of the Bid total, by a bond with corporate surety in an amount not exceeding five (5) percent of the Bid total, or by an irrevocable letter of credit issued by a bank or other financial institution duly recognized and authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Upon Award, Bidder will, within ten (10) calendar days of Award notice, furnish a Performance Bond using sufficient surety or sureties, in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract price. The bond must specify that the Work will be completed in a manner satisfactory to the City. The bond must also state that the City is not liable for any expenses incurred through the failure to complete the Work as specified, nor liable for any damages growing out of the carelessness of Contractor, Contractor's employees, or subcontractors. Upon Award, Bidder will also, with ten (10) calendar days of Award notice, furnish a Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the Contract price. The City reserves the right to request clarification on any Bidder's Bid prior to Award. Bidder must provide written clarification and any requested documentation to the City (within five (5) business days) of the request, or by an earlier deadline conveyed by the City if so designated. A. Eighteen (18) percent participation of MBEs per contract B. Seven (7) percent participation of WBEs per contract C. Five (5) percent participation by veteran-owned small businesses per contract; and D. Three (3) percent participation by LGBTQIA+ businesses per contract as per Adda 3, Question Submission Deadline June 27, 2025, 8:30pm
