Demolition, site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Design plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.
As of July 28, 2025, an engineer has been selected and this project is 25% pre-design phase. The project will be a design/build project and it is on the 2027 TIP. Early letters of interest would start in 2026. The construction timeline remains to be finalized; however, the project is expected to span four years once underway. Engineer firm information has not been determined. Plans to replace the Arthur J. McKenna Bridge in Springfield and West Springfield. The proejct will also inlcude the rehabilitation of the Route 5 Underpass.
