Site work for a water / sewer project in Natchez, Mississippi. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Project Includes the Following Work: Water System Improvements to Include Retrofit or Replacement of Approximately 315 Water Meters to Convert to Advanced Metering Infrastructure System. Bids Are Requested for the Following Contract: Acwa-arpa Water System Improvements - Part 2 The BID SCHEDULE may be examined at the following locations: A. James (Jim) MacLellan, P.E., BCWRE Neel-Schaffer, Inc. 228-999-6885 James.maclellan@neel-schaffer.com This section covers the work necessary to furnish and install, complete, the water services specified herein and as shown and detailed on the plans. 1.2 RELATED SECTIONS Section C-700 General Conditions Section 33 11 01 Detail Piping Specification Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipe and Fittings Section 33 11 04 Detail Piping Specification HDPE Pipe Section 33 19 13 Water Meter Systems 1.3 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT Payment for work in this section shall be included in the unit price / lump sum price as outlined in the Bid. Bid price shall include all cost of labor, materials and incidentals complete. Any meter boxes that must be replaced shall be paid for under Remove and replace meter box and lid. Any meter box lids that need to be replaced because the cellular endpoint can't be securely mounted shall be paid for under Replace existing meter box lid. Any existing boxes and lids that can be retrofitted to mount the encoder and endpoint shall be an absorbed cost under Replace water meters or Retrofit water meters. Any physical adjustment needed to ensure the meter functions and the corporation stop / shutoff valve functions shall be an absorbed cost. 1.4 REFERENCES The publications listed below form part of this specification. Each publication shall be the latest revision and addendum in effect on the date this specification is issued for construction unless noted otherwise. Except as modified by the requirements specified herein or the details of the drawings, Work included in this specification shall conform to the applicable provisions of these publications. AWWA C800 Underground Service Line Valves and Fittings AWWA C901 Polyethylene (PE) Pressure Pipe and Tubing _" through 3" for Water Service 1.5 SUBMITTALS The following shall be submitted in accordance with Section 7.16 of the General Conditions, in sufficient detail to show full compliance with the specification: SD-01 Quality Control: a. Certificates: Provide a manufacturer certificate of compliance that the materials supplied meet the requirements of these specifications. 2.0 PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL 2.1.1 All products utilized for water services specified herein shall be lead free where applicable and shall be per AWWA specifications and NSF approved. 2.2 SERVICE PIPING 2.2.1 _" through 3" Service Line shall be polyethylene tubing, PE 2306 per AWWA C901. Plastic inserts shall be utilized at all connections and fittings. Tubing shall bear the National Sanitation Seal of Approval. 2.2.2 4" and Larger Service Line shall be C900 PVC pipe. Pipe shall bear the National Sanitation Seal of Approval. 2.3 SERVICE CONNECTIONS 2.3.1 _" through 2" Service Clamps shall have a bronze or ductile iron saddle with a stainless-steel strap. Saddles may be either AWWA taper or AWWA IP threaded. Larger than 2" Service taps shall utilize stainless-steel tapping sleeves. CORPORATION VALVES Corporation valves shall be ball type with lead free brass construction. Saddle end shall be threaded to match type of saddle thread used. Service pipe end shall be packed joint type. CURB STOP AND METER VALVES Curb stop and meter valves shall be ball type, straight, lead free brass construction. Valves shall be fitted with lockable yokes. Service pipe end shall be packed joint and meter side shall be meter swivel nut. METER BOX Meter boxes and lids shall be UV inhibited HDPE construction, 12" minimum depth. Covers shall be flush type with skid resistant surface. Box and lid shall be designed to withstand either residential, yard type loadings or commercial, vehicle type loadings depending on installation location. Refer to plans and modify strength requirements per required placement. Meter boxes and lids shall be AMI / AMR compatible and lids shall come with a mounting hole for cellular endpoint mount. Where meter box and lid must be metal to withstand vehicle loadings, cellular endpoint shall be installed to nearby wall using wall cover install kit. EXECUTION GENERAL All materials shall be installed per manufacturer's requirements and recommendations. SERVICE PIPING Water service piping shall be installed via open trench sloped from water main to meter box location. Bottom of trench shall follow the slope from the water main to the meter box, i.e. the water service pipe shall lay on undisturbed ground and there shall be no void area under the water service pipe in its final position which must be filled. Tracer wire as specified elsewhere shall be connected via gel type connection to water main tracer wire and run along water service piping, taped to water service piping at six-foot maximum intervals with three feet of free wire coiled in the meter box. CURB STOP AND METER VALVES Curb stop and meter valves shall be installed with the valve top facing straight up and level and placed within the meter box to allow easy installation of the water meter and easy operation of the valve.
