The OWNER of the project is Spalding County. The ENGINEER for the project is LJA Engineering, Inc. The approximate extent and character of the Work is generally described as follows: The project construction consists of re-grading 0.87 mile of existing dirt road to prepare for paving. The road is to be paved to a width of 22 feet utilizing GDOT approved binder course and topping course. The project will include driveway culvert replacements, driveway paving, and a culvert replacement using an aluminum box culvert and alternate for a pre-cast or cast-in-place double 10' x 8' box culvert. The time allowed for Substantial Completion is 240 days, and the time allowed for completion and readiness for final payment is 270 days from the date of commencement. Each Bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond completed on the attached Bid Bond Form with good and sufficient surety or sureties approved by the owner for faithful acceptance of the contract, payable to, in favor of, and for the protection of the OWNER in an amount equivalent to five (5%) of the total amount payable by the terms of the contract, in lieu thereof, in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or cash in equal amount. Performance and Payment Bonds, each in an amount at least equal to 110 percent of the contract amount, and a Certification of Insurance will be required. A Certification of Insurance will be required from the low bidder prior to award of the Contract. All Bids will remain subject to acceptance for ninety days after the day of the Bid opening, but OWNER may, in its sole discretion, release any Bid and return the Bid security prior to that date.
