As of April 10, 2026, this project is currently on hold. Monroe County Community College ("MCCC") requests proposals for a Construction Manager at Risk ("CMAR") firm to provide pre-schematic, preconstruction, and construction services for the additions and renovation of its Health Education Building. The Health Education Building is on MCCC's main campus at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd, Monroe, Michigan 48161. This project includes a 30,770 gross square foot, 2-story addition along with 8,101 gross square footage of renovation to the existing building. There will be high level of renovation in the classroom areas and medium level of renovation in the administration spaces. The existing building area includes 49,883 total gross square footage. The addition and existing building combined will be 80,653 total building gross square footage. 20250821-200-300 The addition and renovation will provide new classrooms, health sciences labs, public safety labs, administration spaces and shared lounge and study space. In addition to the building work, the site will include 89,800 sf of new parking lot along with a new drop-off lane for the building. The site work includes 205 total new parking spaces. There will be 4 parking spaces prepared for future Electric Vehicle parking (signage, raceways + wiring, panel / breaker allocation - no equipment at this time). A new entry plaza with seating and landscape beds will be added for the Addition's west entrance. A new drop-off lane at the existing building will provide closer accessible parking for the building. On the north side of the building, a fire lane will be provided. The Total Project Budget is $32 Million with an anticipated construction cost value of $24.5 Million. MCCC has retained The Collaborative, Inc. for AE services related to this Project. Scope of the Project: This project is a renovation to existing classrooms, laboratories, and administrative support spaces as well as a 2-story addition wing for the Health Sciences academic programs and a 1-story addition wing for the Public Safety academic programs. The 2-story addition wing for Health Sciences includes 17,638 gross square footage. The 1-story addition wing for Public Safety and shared lounge space is 13,132 gross square footage. The renovation includes 4,496 net square footage of administration space along with (1) Classroom renovated for Health Sciences use and (2) Classrooms renovated for Public Safety programs. The project will include site improvements per the local township regulations including new parking, fire lane access and a trash enclosure. Finally, a number of legacy maintenance items will be addressed, such as the installation of new door and window systems, re-roofing of flat roof areas, and recladding the existing insulated metal panels so as to better weather-proof the exterior of the building.
