Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Melrose, Massachusetts. Working plans call for the construction of a 24,000-square-foot fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
Request for General Contractor Prequalification. Construction of a new 24,000 SF fire station building located on a site adjacent to Tremont Street Certified Automotive Solutions in Melrose, MA. Along with the construction of the building which includes three apparatus bays, one maintenance bay, administration area, fitness area, and sleeping quarters, work includes selective site work and construction in Tremont Street. The construction duration is approximately 16 - 18 months. Scope also includes coordination with existing/new site utilities; fire headquarters' systems including alerting; communications equipment for radio and alerting systems and fire alarm; and furnish and install of new emergency power system. The City of Melrose is issuing this new RFQ for General Contractors ONLY. FSB contractors were previously prequalified under a separate solicitation. This RFQ will be used to prequalify General Contractors. Only those GC's and previously prequalified FSB Contractors will be invited to submit a bid for the Building Project pursuant to M.G.L. c. 149, 44E All questions regarding this RFQ should be submitted by 12:00PM local time on October 9 2025 Questions should be submitted by email to Bryan Fors at BFors@vertexeng.com, and Glenn Gollard at ggollrad@doreandwhittier.com.
