As of October 27, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. The City of Port Townsend is soliciting proposals from civil engineering consulting firms to provide design- and construction-phase services for two multimodal improvements projects. The required project work includes: surveying, engineering design, permitting support, right-of-way acquisition support if needed, preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents (PS&E), bidding support, engineering support during construction, and potentially, construction management. Proposals should address the following projects: 1. 19th Street Active Transportation Safety Improvements: Construction of approximately 1,300 feet of sidewalk on the southern side of 19th Street between Landes Street and San Juan Avenue. Design considerations include sidewalk, curb extensions, rectangular rapid flash beacons (RRFBs), buffered bike lanes, raised crosswalks, median islands, and ADA-compliant curb ramps. 2. SR20 (Bishop Canyon) Bike and Pedestrian Safety Project: Construction of approximately 800 feet of sidewalk on the southern side of SR20 between Logan Street and Hancock Street. Design components include lane width reduction, raised crosswalk, RRFBs, crossing markings, illumination (with free-standing light standards and luminaires mounted to existing poles), curb ramps, buffered bike lane, replacement of gravity sewer main, and sidewalks. Each project will be a stand-alone contract and may be awarded to a single or multiple consultant teams. Work will be authorized after funding approval by Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Local Programs.
