Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Valparaiso, Indiana. Completed plans call for the demolition of a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The project consists of the replacement of an existing bridge with a new single bridge to replace the structurally deficient structure and to improve the conveyance of Damon Run under the structure. The new superstructure will be a reinforced concrete slab supported on reinforced concrete end bents on steel piles. Construction includes a reinforced concrete bridge approach behind both bents, a new approach roadway consisting of HMA on subgrade treatment, roadway widening to construct a passing blister at the Timberland Estates subdivision, as well as drainage improvements and sidewalk installation. The work includes demolition and removal of the existing structure and installation of the proposed structure, requiring the furnishing of all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and other incidental items necessary for completion.
