Sealed bids are invited for the installation of the Mark di Suvero Sculpture Mamma Mobius on Crescent Lawn, including the following work: fabrication of four steel plinth assemblies (each with a base plate, wide flange section, and cap plate for four bearing points), site clearing, furnishing and installing four reinforced concrete footings for the sculpture, furnishing and installing a raised, compacted Class II aggregate pad around the sculpture, fastening four plinth assemblies to concrete footings with adhesively grouted threaded rods and hardware, directing the sculpture moving company to place the sculpture on the footings, field fillet welding the steel sculpture to the plinths at bearing points, locating and welding a raised steel header around the sculpture's perimeter, and backfilling and compacting aggregate as needed. The work sequence must be coordinated with inspectors. Each bidder must submit a Contractor’s Special Statement of Experience on their letterhead, documenting a minimum of three and a maximum of five comparable projects (metal fabrication and welding, $65,000+ value) completed in the last five years within the nine Bay Area counties. For each project, provide project name, address, owner's name, contract value at award, total change order value, completion date, owner’s representative contact information, and a description of project comparability. Also, list all projects completed or underway at UC Campuses and National Labs in the last five years. Incomplete or inaccurate submissions or negative references will result in non-responsiveness. Only bidders who attend the mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and Site Tour in its entirety will be eligible to bid as prime contractors. The successful bidder must have the required current and active California contractor's license at bid submission.
