The City of Colorado Springs is seeking bids to replace the fire escape stairs at Cottonwood Creek Recreation Center. The center is located at 3920 Dublin Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. This is a Colorado Springs Parks facility but is managed by the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. The escape staircase is located at the rear of the building on the north side. This is a low bid scenario. Successful bidder will be responsible for the complete demolition of the existing staircase, the disposal of the existing staircase and all material associated with existing staircase. All fabrication, installation, weather proofing and permits will be the responsibility of the successful bidder. This will be a complete project for the contractor who wins this bid. The City of Colorado Springs has contracted with HCDA - Structural Engineering Consultants for the design, submittal review and inspections for this project. A. Demolish and remove the existing fire escape. B. Fabricate and install a new galvanized steel fire escape. C. Include a beam at the top to support the new structure. D. Ensure the new fire escape follows plan set, with a mid-landing and 180-degree turn/parallel stairs (2 flights). E. These will be an Industrial or Service class staircase. F. Provide shop drawings for approval from Structural Engineer. G. Coordinate with City staff, Structural Engineer and Pikes Peak Regional Building Department for inspections and approvals.
